Well, we made it to Phoenix this afternoon. Lee pulled into a Walmart around 1am and we headed back on the road around 6:30am. It is very cool to see all the different landscapes that we are now driving through. Texas was dry and flat with no rest areas or civilization. New Mexico had interesting mesas and plateaus. Arizona has huge rock formations jutting out of the desert. It is cool to see native cactus on the hillside as normal as we would view trees. HOWEVER, the temperature today was unbearable!!! I don't care if it is "dry heat" or not! 118 degrees is exactly that...118 degrees!!!! Setting up the camper in the heat was not fun. I'm praying for this hot spell to drop a little.
Anyway, later today we met up with the rest of Lee's family at the University of Phoenix arena (home of the next Superbowl). We enjoyed the commencement ceremony for his two sisters who earned Masters of Arts degrees in Early Childhood Development. It was a very
nice ceremony and wasn't too long. (Sometimes those things can go on forever!) We enjoyed a dinner together after and are now nessled snug in our beds with the AC on full blast. I thank God for modern conveniences. I can't imagine what the settlers felt in weather like this.

I think we are heading to a Safari in Cottonwood and go-carting in Sadona.
Ta-Ta for now!
Love,
Michele
