Time for a Repair!

July 5, 2007
Time: 5:42pm CST
Happy Thursday! Sorry that there weren’t many pictures with last night’s posting. I added a few today. As I was typing it, it was getting dusk and all of a sudden all the JuneBugs in the area converged on the light from the computer screen. Ick! Needless to say, the computer was shut down promptly and we enjoyed the fireworks. The finale was amazing.

I didn’t write about this yesterday, but the day that we reached Ok City, OK, Lee and I both noticed a strange sound in the truck. First we thought it might be the brakes, then the rotors, then the transmission…Well everyone was closed on the 4th so Lee headed out this morning to get it diagnosed. He ended up at the local Chevy dealer with a bad rack N pinion central bearing. They (the dealer) were shocked to find that they actually had the part in stock, but they did. It took them 4 hours to repair. We are so thankful that we purchased the extended warranty and that the part was accessible. SO, we went grocery shopping with the loaner vehicle and let the kids swim in the morning at the campground. Now we are behind schedule, but we should still make it to Phoenix tomorrow. It is 14 hours away. Lee will drive until he can’t anymore. I’ll relieve him if I’m feeling alert. If not, we’ll pull off and sleep.

The rest of Lee’s family is already in Phoenix. Two of his sisters are graduating from the University of Phoenix with Masters Degrees tomorrow afternoon. What a huge blessing to see Melissa and Cherie accomplish this, especially when we weren’t sure we would still have Cherie in November due to her illness. Lee’s mom and dad are there. They have been enjoying traveling out west also and Lee's dad is being a trooper.

Well, we have survived a severe thunderstorm on the road. Boy Kelly, they do pop up out of nowhere here in OK. Then we saw the storm edge on the horizon and drove right out of it. Now the sky is blue and you wouldn’t have any idea that it was raining and blowing like it was. I can see where tornados could pop up in moments.

Thanks for your continued prayers. I understand some of you are wanting to post, but are having a hard time. If you need to know, use the lcarlson@umcwebster.org address if they ask. I’m going to try to post to the site just to see what the steps are to doing it. I’ll give you further explanation if I need to.

Phoenix or Bust!
Love,
Michele
